This was utilized in our last EMR to save time documenting by typing a few characters and the program auto-correcting with multiple words, sentences, or blocks of text. It is similar to the smart phrases, but usable in every field in the WebPT program (not just dedicated fields) and specific/customizable to each user.

We are announcing our new feature for SOAP 2, "Smart Charting". This is a superior replacement for Smart Text in SOAP 1. You will be able to create your own shortcuts, and we have a Starter Kit with over 400 abbreviations and 100 common phrases/sentences.

auto-texting is available in other EMR programs and is so helpful. an example is: you the clinician types in cvi then the space bar and the words would come out chronic venous insufficiency. In my last place of employment, I composed several auto-text phrases and it sped up documentation tremendously.
