Store credit cards without charging them, allow clients to enter credit card number via portal

I am going to use Novera for credit cards because it integrates with Therabill. But I have a huge problem right now because Therabill won't allow me to use the gateway to store a card with Novera until the card is actually charged. And yet OFTEN, I need to charge the card for the first time when the client is not present, for example, when an insurance EOB has come though and the client has to pay coinsurance or toward a deductible, and the client has not used the card previously. Where am I supposed to keep the card info then, so I can charge it when I need to? Paper is not okay. Why can't the card be stored without charging it first? Also, many EHRs allow the client to enter the credit card info to be stored via the portal and yet therabill doesn't allow that. The latter option would also make it so we wouldn't have to physically swipe the card or key in the card manually the first time, since it would already be in the system. I had to go and buy computers and swipers to get around this issue. It all makes me want to go and use Square or Ivy Pay, but those systems are not integrated with Therabill. Please tell me you can find a way to fix this!

Another way to solve this issue would be to have Therabill set up for Authorization Only, so the card could be stored without a charge. Other EHRs do this--and other EHRs can handle chip cards and allow clients to enter/store their cc info via the portal--and I seriously think Therabill will lose business over this if it isn't corrected soon.
